India is making it bad for the Web… and for IT

I don’t mean to accuse a country such as India, because I would definitely agree that it is one of the best countries to outsource Information Technology jobs nowadays, for two very good reasons…

(1) because they are very cheap (labor)
(2) because the work they do is not at all bad, some even comparable to better jobs done in the industry

And the thing is, India, I don’t know how, has managed (and still manages) to offer way below average rates as compared to other developing countries in the world in terms of Information Technology services, making them one of the top countries (if not at all number 1) to outsource such.

As much as I admire the Indians for this, I hate the fact that they have single-handedly made the world (well, mostly the more developed countries) accustomed to the rates that they are offering, simply because they outnumber us mostly here in the southeastern part of the world, and BELIEVE ME….. their rates simply don’t do justice…..

Forgive me for complaining, but I am just frustrated by this feeling that the Indians are practically destroying the web industry as we know it by trying to get all the web jobs their way competing heavily by means of CHEAP RATES… it’s a no-brainer strategy really, much like the way China has been getting investors their way by going cheap, making it much harder for smaller, less populated, third-world countries such as the Philippines to break into the market, because whether we like it or not, they have the industry by the neck!

Oh well, to hell with that…. niche…. niche………… always the niche, never mainstream… whatever happened to the time when they called the country a tiger (well, a cub at least)…. go Ramos, go Erap, i suppose?!? Whose next anyway - kabayan!?!
