Tekken 5 - Dark Resurrection

Tekken 5 - Dark Resurrection

From the arcade to the PSP game console. Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, as the title implies, revolves around the story of Jinpachi, Father of Heihachi Mishima and Grandfather to Kazuya Mishima, not to mention Jin, Kazuya’s son. So here comes the great-grandfather, just when I thought Heihachi was getting ‘OLD’.

Jinpachi, who supposedly died years ago after being locked in the basement by his own son, Heihachi, is resurrected by a dark force, much like that of Ogre’s from Tekken 4, in order to destroy the world. The Mishima’s is a cursed bloodline, as Kazuya and Jin both have devil forms, and is now justified by Jinpachi their grandfather. The only thing that bothers me about this is why the heck does Heihachi not transform into anything? Usually when the Mishima’s are faced with a life-and-death situation, their devil form takes over, and Heihachi supposedly died after getting caught in an explosion in the previous franchise title, although it was never really explained how he survived underneath the ground for so long - thanks to his devil form maybe?

Tekken 5 is still the same Tekken fighting game from before, with more characters and improved character moves, the game is not that promising, but nevertheless one of the best fighting games in the gaming industry to date. Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection deserves a good play just for its name, and of course the addicting story mode that allows you to finish the game with different endings from different characters. There are also mini-games available once you’ve completed the game, although personally, I’ve never been a big fan of the mini-games, I just like to watch the endings of all the characters so that when the next title comes out, which I’ve already seen in the arcades, I’d be able to connect the characters stories from the previous title.

Overall, it’s a great play just because the name is Tekken, nothing much to say really.
